Ireland settle on Staunton
[uefa.com - FIFA World Cup] Ireland's most-capped player having represented his country 102 times, Staunton - who has agreed a four-year contract in his first managerial role and leaves Walsall FC in the third tier of English football to take up the post - appeared in the World Cup finals in 1990, 1994 and 2002. He had been player-coach at Walsall since the start of the season at the end of a long career in which he played for Liverpool FC - being part of that club's last English championship-winning team of 1989/90 - and Aston Villa FC among others.

[FIFA World Cup Football - Germany 2006 - World Cup Blog] No surprise that Brazil is still number one or that American Somoa is the 205th best team in the world. But there are plenty of other rankings that will leave you scratching your head.

[The Chelsea Football Club Blog] The last time we played Huddersfield was in 1999; they beat us 1-0 in the third round of the League Cup.
