Faking of injuries rife at World Cup, say Fifa referees (Independent)

[ FIFA World Cup Updates] It was the World Cup of Jürgen Klinsmann, of Marcello Lippi, of Zinedine Zidane, and of people rolling around in agony quite a lot without actually being hurt.

http://suttonreferees.blogspot.com [Suttonreferees.blogspot.com] Sutton Referees Society Atom RSS Blog: My three years in Bermuda has seen me work with some excellent officials from our FiFA list and some terrible ones - one guy put down his flag to punch a noisy fan midway through the second half, another female official actually sat on a wall and talked to fans when play was away from her end and another supposedly senior linesman had a bizarre habit of flagging wildly during play to stop the game to allow for substitutions.

[Sa2010blog.com] SA2010blog: The latest news is that FIFA has got involved as Petros Mathebela was a designated official for a World Cup qualifier on Saturday and FIFA have suspended him after he was arrested for match-fixing last week. Further two other FIFA referees have also been arrested, Simon Motau and Ronnie Marhule, and we can expect them to also be suspended by FIFA soon.

http://argentina.worldcupblog.org [Argentina.worldcupblog.org] Hidden Considerations - FIFA World Cup 2006 - Argentina World Cup ...: It seems that everyone agrees that Scaloni has been a somewhat scary weak link and nobody is particularly eager to see what the Germans might do to him…I’d be the first to put Burdisso back in…However there is an enormous somewhat HIDDEN risk in starting with either Lucho or Burdisso, and it’s this: If either Burdisso or Lucho has to be substituted for, Argentina will lose what I strongly feel is their ace-up-the-sleeve…bringing in Messi, Tevez, Aimar against tired legs…I’m thus torn between thinking that Messi should start…instead of Cambiasso (I know that sounds crazy, but it’d work)…or hoping that Lucho & Burdisso will last the 90 minutes.
