http://theeternalwanderer.wordpress.com [The Reflections of The Eternal Wanderer] Few possess the sublime skills of an attacking midfielder and playmaker such as Zidane’s and it is no wonder for the past eight years since that momentous win in 1998 that the Algerian-born French star has been an important core player of the French international squad. He can be likened to a puppet master who is pulling the strings of play - creating as many chances in front to support the front strikers and doing as much to help at the back.

http://www.uefa.com [uefa.com] Ecuador began the game much brighter, with Carlos Tenorio a lively presence in the South Americans' attack and it came as little surprise when he broke the deadlock midway through the first half, heading in after Delgado had flicked on Ulises de la Cruz's throw-in. The 27-year-old almost turned provider five minutes later when another delivery from Aston Villa FC's De la Cruz caused havoc in the Polish back line, allowing Tenorio to cut the ball back but Delgado blazed over from point-blank range.
