Suspension removed as Iran agrees to follow FIFA
[Asian Football Business Review by Football Dynamics Asia] On 19 December FIFA officially informed the Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation that the suspension imposed on it on 23 November 2006 had been lifted. The FIFA Emergency Committee, composed of the FIFA President and one representative of each of the six confederations, took the decision to lift the ban on 18 December as a result of a series of cooperative negotiations between FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation, the IRIFF and the Physical Education Organisation of the Islamic Republic of Iran as reported by Iran Football:

[Sportolysis - The World Sports Blog] Dhoomk2 pointed me out to an advertisement in which kids copied a Ronaldinho ad where he keeps kicking the ball on a football pole. This one was another funny revelation to how Ronaldinho did it I thought.

Gazing into the Football Crystal Ball
[diaspora] As the English Premiership beckons, my memories of nights spent bleary-eyed watching Manchester United conquer all in their reign through the nineties stir in me the urge to blog something deep and insightful on the coming season and all that is right and wrong with football. This urge, which is strong and primal like the need to piss on the toilet seat, subsides when I realize I have not watched a single minute of Premiership soccer for 12 months.
