Soccer: Gut Shots
[Soccer] Ever since his childhood in Hawaii, Brian Ching has had the same routine for penalty kicks: Take a short approach, stutter-step and bang the ball hard to the goalkeeper’s left. He just never got the chance to use it in MLS.

Chelsea and Barca to meet again
[The News is NowPublic.com | NowPublic.com: The News is Now Public] timesonline.co.uk: JOSÃ MOURINHO is a master mischief-maker but, yesterday, the Chelsea manager could plead innocence. [Bruces Belly] And its an additional shame that I dont feel very compelled to write about what the Quakes can take out of the season or what we as observers might learn from them. Thats what postmortems are supposed to do, but its just so unseemly in this context.

Non-spectator of the day
[cricket.rickeyre.com] It's a sign of the times that 319 runs in a day can be considered a disappointing effort from England. [Tiny Epiphanies] They did well in scrimmages and were the top seed in their group (there are six groups of five, the winner of each group will go on to another tournament to pick the two spots available in Classic two. Otherwise the teams will end up in Classic three [where Nick wants to be] or Plano premiere or, worst of all, Arlington [which would not be good - a very long drive for us]).

lacrosse - why is it popular?
[Most Valuable Network - Tennis Diary] Lacrosse has very strict rules about the dimensions of the stick. The webbing that holds the ball cannot be too deep because that would make it too easy for the attacker to hold onto the ball while fighting through wrap checks, slap checks, poke checks and body checks on their way to the goal.
